The United Nations Security Council on Thursday (April 25th) is expected to authorise nearly 13,000 peacekeepers for Mali, Journal du Mali reported.

French and African forces will hand over control to the International Mission of Support in Mali (MISMA) on July 1st. The mission will be tasked with restoring stability in northern Mali and preventing the return of armed Islamists and terrorists, RFI reported.

The UN force will not conduct any combat operations.
