Tomatoes reached a maximum price of 0.71 Euro per kilo in European markets that week.
Morocco has increased its exports of tomatoes to the European Union (EU) by 36 percent during the second week of April, with regard to the previous week, as Hortoinfo learned from sources from the Ministry of agriculture and fisheries of the Andalusian Board.
The total product exported by the Kingdom of Morocco, in the week from April 8 to 14, was 7.86 million kilos.
Compared to the same period of the 2011/2012 campaign, the increase of Moroccan tomato exports to European markets is 18 percent.
In the period between the 1st and the 14th of April, Morocco has exported to the EU a total of 20.05 million kilos, 6 percent more than in the same period last year.
Zucchini
The Andalusian Board indicated that Moroccan zucchini production is not very representative since March, when plantations were reaching the end of their productive cycle.
Moroccan zucchini exports to the EU between the 8th and the 14th of April is only 0.28 million kilos. The price, 0.91 Euro per kilo, has been stable throughout the period.
Out of the 50,000 ton quota active until April 20, Morocco has exported 35.24 million kilos so far, 76 percent more than in the 2011/12 period, in which there was a 20,000 ton quota available.
