Competitors brave the Moroccan Sahara in world’s hardest marathon

(AFP) – More than a thousand participants are braving the Moroccan Sahara in the Marathon des Sables, or desert marathon.

Considered the hardest marathon in the world, competitors have to cross 223km of desert terrain in seven days.
