Madrid – Morocco’s democratic process may be considered as a reference in the whole region, said EU’s Special Representative for the Southern Mediterranean Region Bernardino Léon.
“The EU admires, supports and trusts this process and we are convinced that Morocco¹s willingness to press ahead with this path will stand as a reference in the region,² the EU official was quoted by the Spanish Europa Press news agency as saying.
Bernardino Léon, who was addressing an international forum on democratic transitions and constitutional processes in the Arab world, commended the impressive evolution marked by the adoption of a new constitution and the large-scale reforms launched under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
He described Morocco¹s achievements during the last decade as ³spectacular².
The international forum on democratic transitions and constitutional processes in the Arab world was held in Rabat on September 16-17.
