Cairo – Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani called, on Monday in Cairo, for elaborating joint Arab and European political initiatives to establish regional peace and security and promote economic integration between the two regions.
El Otmani, who was speaking at the 2nd Arab-European cooperation forum, insisted on the need to deal with the migration phenomenon as a common problem and develop joint mechanisms to promote inter-cultural dialogue.
The minister called for a joint action to revive the peace process in the Middle-East, urging the EU to push for the unconditional resumption of peace talks as soon as possible.
He underlined that Morocco, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, chairman of Al Quds Committee, called for a collective commitment to safeguarding the particular aspect of the holy city as a symbol of tolerance and coexistence between the different religions.
On the Syrian crisis, El Otmani recalled Morocco’s unwavering stance which insists on preserving the country’s unity and sovereignty, stopping all forms of violence, satisfying Syrians’ legitimate aspirations for democratic reform and respecting human dignity.
He voiced satisfaction with the Doha meeting’s results which led to a coalition representing the different components of Syrian opposition.
