Nepal maintains dignity in Morocco meet for gender equality

KATHMANDU: Morocco conference on gender responsible budget has concluded in the African country, Morocco, recently.

As many as 100 policy makers including ministers from 30 countries had participated in the conference, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

Secretary at the Office the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Krishnahari Banskota, had represented Nepal in the meeting and informed that Nepal had already implemented the gender responsible budget since 2007.

During the conference, Secretary Banskota presented his report and said Nepal has been running women empowerment and legal literacy programmes, scrapped the prevailing provision to be 60 years for receiving social security allowance, managed discount of 40 per cent for the registration charge to register land in woman’s name, 20 per cent discount on income tax to the industries and other enterprises with more than 100 workers that provide jobs to one third women and other gender responsible activities.
