Milan. More than half a tonne of cannabis was found on board a luxury yacht bound for the Northwestern Italian port of La Spezia Sunday night, police said Monday, ANSA reported.
The 560 kg of narcotics had a street value of about 600,000 euros, they said.
Three people were arrested including two Milanese and Venetian men, both about 60 and with criminal records, and a 27-year-old Nigerian woman “who was probably recruited to give the trip a veneer of normality,” police said. Police had been on the trio’s trail for two weeks and had discovered they picked up the cannabis in Morocco and came to La Spezia via Malaga in southern Spain.
