Lima, Oct. 01 (ANDINA). Political dialogue between South American and Arab Countries (ASPA), which includes the Declaration of Lima, is based on the search for peace in our region, the ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco Oumana Aouad Lahrech said.

In that regard, she stressed that the 3rd ASPA Summit will help both regions “discover or rediscover” common interests to work and cooperate in terms of political, economic and other issues such as education, environment, and technology, among others.

“We do not share geographical borders, but bridges. The geographical distance is no longer a criterion for saying that we have no common interests or nothing in common. Many bridges and ties that unite us,” she told to El Peruano official newspaper.

Aouad Lahrech added that the ASPA business forum, which opens Monday in Lima, is important because both regions have complementary economies. She mentioned that South America can become a mayor food supplier for the Arab World.

Regarding the Declaration of Lima, the ambassador said she hopes that the resolutions “have international political weight to this tri-continental bloc”, that is South American, African and Asian countries.
