Saskatoon (Canada) – Agriculture and Fisheries Minister, Aziz Akhannouch called, on Thursday in the central Canadian city of Saskatoon, for adopting comparative advantages that enhance the position of agricultural countries at international markets.

Akhannouch, who was addressing delegations from 19 agricultural exporting countries attending the 36th Cairns Group Ministerial Meeting, highlighted the importance for each agricultural country to have a position in international markets through comparative advantages, noting in this regard that multilateral negotiations should take into account the efforts undertaken by developing countries such as Morocco to develop the Agriocultural sector and rural areas.

The Moroccan official also called for developing and reinforcing the special and deferential treatment towards these countries within the framework of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The meeting, attended by Morocco as a special guest, examined agriculture at the WTO as well as trade and food security.
