A GRIMSBY 23-year-old is braving the sands of the Sahara to raise £2,500 for Help For Heroes.

Hayley Gaiger is embarking on the 100km expedition in Ouarzazate, Morocco, on October 15 to support family members in the Royal Navy.

She is also dedicating her trip in honour of close friend and colleague Michelle Davis, who died suddenly in April this year.

Hayley, who works for Wilkin Chapman Grange solicitors, will trek through the desert and take on the largest sand dune in the Sahara, the Chagaga, facing temperatures of up to 30C and ending her journey in Marrakesh.

Her employers have donated £1,350 to her goal, and she is being supported by Grimsby Town Football Club.

She said: “This is one of the biggest challenges I have ever had to face but I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’m so grateful for the support I have received so far but I would love to hear from anybody who is able to sponsor me and help me to raise even more.”

Julia Whittaker, chief executive of Wilkin Chapman Grange, added: “Hayley has shown great enterprise, commitment and determination to succeed in her trek and we also feel that Help for Heroes is an extremely worthy charity.”
