Sao Tome – The new president of the republic of Sao Tome and Principe Pinto da Costa received, on Saturday, Moroccan secretary of state to the foreign minister, Mohamed Ouzzine.
Ouzzine conveyed to da Costa HM King Mohammed VI’s greetings and heartfelt congratulations on his election as president.
Da Costa emphasized the long-standing relations between the two countries, recalling the decisive role Morocco played in support of liberation movements in African Portuguese-speaking countries.
He also voiced his country’s willingness to reinforce cooperation with Morocco in various fields.
Ouzzine represented Morocco on Saturday in the inauguration of da Costa, who won 52.88% of the votes in the run-off which took place on August 7.
The Moroccan official held talks, on the same day, with the prime minister Emery Trovoada and foreign minister Carlos Alberto Pires Tiny.
Trovoada praised HM King Mohammed VI’s efforts to achieve human development both in Morocco and in African countries.
He expressed satisfaction with the excellent bilateral relations and called for them to be further reinforced and diversified towards an effective, mutually beneficial cooperation.
