RABAT: The Mohammed Bin Zayed Iftar Campaign in Morocco on Thursday was launched by Ambassador of the UAE Al Asri Saeed Al Daheri, Wali of Rabat-Sale-Zemmour-Zaer region Hassan Amrani and Fat’hallah Wala’alou at a ceremony in Rabat in the presence of senior Moroccan officials, staff members of the UAE embassy in Rabat and representatives of the media and local charities.
With a total budget of Dhs7.3 million granted by Gen Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and on directives from President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to help around 23,000 families in different areas, the campaign will distribute aid in co-ordination with the Moroccan authorities and 120 local charities and aid agencies, according to Al Daheri in remarks at the launch ceremony.Under the initiative, eligible needy families and special needs people will receive food packages containing flour, sugar, oil, rice, tea, coffee, milk, tomato paste, lentil, chickpeas, vermicelli and jam.Al Daheri stressed that such humanitarian initiatives reflect the prominent bilateral relations between the UAE and Morocco under the prudent leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and King Mohammed VI.Also, the UAE embassy in Rabat and the authorities of Misour and Fez-Boulemane regions organised mass iftar banquets and distributed Ramadan food packages to locals in a number of villages and towns.
