Rabat – French Economist Henri-Louis Védie highlighted Morocco’s sound choice in investing in renewable energies adding that this would make the Kingdom a future exporter of green energy to Europe.

In an article published by Le Figaro, the French professor underscored that the energy projects launched under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI enabled Morocco to be listed among emerging countries.

Morocco, which has no energy resources of its own, endeavoured since 2007 to develop renewable energies while forging ahead with sustainable development, Védie added.

Thanks to these policies, he said, Morocco’s energy bill fell in 2010 to 54 billion dirham, compared to 70 billion dirhams in 2009.

By 2020, the solar and wind as well as hydropower will make of Morocco an exporter of clean energy to Spain and France, he went on to say.
