Rabat – Morocco was re-elected, recently in Brussels, vice-president of the World Customs Organization (WCO), on the 60th anniversary of this organization, Morocco’s Tax Office said in a statement.
The renewal took place during a regional meeting held on 27 June, on the sidelines of the WCO Council, which brought together managing directors customs administrations in the MENA region under the chairmanship of Morocco, to coordinate the positions of Customs administrations on issues of common interest.
Active member of this organization, Morocco is vice-president of the organisation and regional representative of the region of North Africa, the Near and Middle East since 2008, the statement said.
The WCO is an intergovernmental organization that currently gathers 177 customs administrations around the world. It is the only organization specialized in customs matters.
