The main concern for the director-general of maritime affairs and fisheries is the possibility of erroneous payments. The department’s analysis is that a maximum of 2.23% of fisheries payments made in the year 2011 under the 2007-13 programming period was at risk of having been made in error, representing €9.84 million.
On fisheries partnership agreements, the report notes that in 2011, the renewals of three such agreements with third countries were successfully negotiated – with Mozambique, Morocco and Guinea-Bissau. But the agreement with Morocco was rejected by the European Parliament in December 2011.
