Troon adds Morocco’s Bouskoura Golf City and Atlas Golf Resort as clients
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Troon, the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is delighted to announce the signing of Bouskoura Golf City in Casablanca, and Atlas Golf Resort in Marrakech. Both 18-hole courses join an already impressive portfolio of existing Troon-managed properties in the region, including the critically-acclaimed Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort in El Jadida.
Bouskoura Golf City, designed by golf legend Tony Jacklin, is strategically located on the edge of the Bouskoura National Forest, near Casablanca and one of the city’s newest business hubs. Atlas Golf Resort is set amongst palm and olive trees, offering stunning views of the snowy peaks of the Atlas Mountains. With Troon at the heart of both developments, the courses will become an integral part of Morocco’s growing golf culture.
“There is much anticipation surrounding both new developments in Bouskoura and Marrakech,” commented Bruce Glasco, Troon’s senior vice president & managing director, international operations. “Both properties have the opportunity to establish themselves as leading leisure attractions in Morocco’s broader golf and tourism plans.”
Bouskoura Golf City looks set to attract international business, due to its easy access to Casablanca International Airport, and will bring a plethora of visitors to the venue and the surrounding regions. Its 18-hole course will be completed in 2013, but will open nine holes for play in September 2012. The facility will be supplemented with state-of-the-art practice facilities designed to encourage new players in the game and to facilitate family participation.
“Morocco has the potential to become one of the world’s most intriguing new golfing nations, something we recognized at Troon when we first began discussions with some of the country’s most stunning golf developments,” added Glasco. “As both of Troon’s newest Moroccan additions take shape over the next several months, we are confident that they too will become highly sought after amongst locals and international guests.”
Atlas Golf Resort will become the main sporting component of an extensive development that will feature two stunning new hotels, as well as several residential offerings that frame the golf course. Development and operations for both golf properties will be led by Troon, delivering the outstanding service synonymous with the Troon brand.
