Rabat – Many African countries wish that Morocco returns to the African Union (AU), Gabon’s president Ali Bongo Ondimba said.

“I know that many African countries, including Gabon, hope that Morocco returns to our pan-African organization,” Gabonese head of state told “L’Observateur du Maroc” paper.

Asked about obstacle hampering the said return, he said that people should rely on their intelligence to find solutions, adding that HM King Mohammed VI “is among the new African leaders who were well prepared to assume their duty and who have a clear vision of what we really want for the African continent.”

“Morocco’s return to the African Union depends on fulfilling a number of conditions, considering that the Kingdom can in no way accept to be treated on an equal basis with a phoney state which does not exist on the map, is not recognized internationally and is not member of the United Nations Organization,” Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad Dine El Otmani said recently.
