Tunis – Head of government Abdelilah Benkirane said on Friday that Morocco and Tunisia share the same views on the need to push bilateral relations to higher level and to work closely to revive the Maghreb edifice.

“It is time to move forward to realize the political will expressed by the two countries in order to achieve these goals,” Benkirane told the press following a meeting with President of the Constituent Assembly of Tunisia Mustapha Ben Jaafar.

Ben Jaafar, for his part, welcomed Morocco’s official and popular support to the Tunisian revolution, hailing the visits conducted by Moroccan officials and civil society actors shortly after the Revolution of the January 14th, 2011.

During the talks, the two sides examined the political developments and the democratic experience in both countries.

The meeting was also an opportunity to consider the means to further boost bilateral cooperation in all areas and the efforts made in order to revive the Maghreb Arab Union on new bases with the aim of achieving an economic and social integration between the five North African countries.
