Rabat – Moroccan Minister of Justice and Freedoms Mustafa Ramid said Tuesday that the government “will not tolerate torture and other forms of ill-treatment” in police centers, adding that the Justice Department is ready to receive any complaints on this issue to investigate and take appropriate measures in cases of abuse.
During the weekly session of oral questions in the House of Advisors, Ramid reiterated the ministry’s commitment to promoting the action of the judiciary administration, stressing that the country’s courts are beginning to catch up the delay in dealing with cases before them.
According to the Minister, in collaboration with many stakeholders, the Kingdom’s courts are setting up a new approach in the national dialogue on judicial reform.
On the approach adopted by the Justice Department about reports of the Court of Auditors, Ramid said that administrative structure was established within the Ministry in order to analyze and verify all files submitted to it by this body.
In this regard, the minister mentioned the lack of judges specializing in financial and economic crimes, stressing the need to develop training for judges in the matter.
