Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola met with his counterpart from the Kingdom of Morocco yesterday on the margins of the Ministerial Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement Coordinating Bureau in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.Speaking from Egypt, Ratu Inoke said that Fiji’s relations with Morocco have developed over the years consistent with the Fijian Government’s Look North Policy. As members of the NAM, both countries value the importance of the Movement particularly in upholding its core principles on respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-interference. “We thank the Government of Morocco for the scholarships that were provided to 8 Fijian students this year,” Ratu Inoke said.The two Ministers also discussed other areas of possible cooperation and explored ways in which the two countries could enhance their relations.With the recent visit of the Public Service Commission Permanent Secretary, Mr Parmesh Chand to Morocco, the Fijian Government will now consider other possible areas of cooperation we could engage with Morocco on,” the Fijian Foreign Minister said.The two Ministers also expressed the desire to meet again in due course in either Capitals to further advance issues they discussed at the meeting.
