The universal appeal of Mother-in-law jokes knows no limits. Now, several commercials in Morocco have recently been attacked for undermining family values by ridiculing mothers-in-law as well as turning wives against their husbands.
Some commercials depict a mother-in-law as an uninvited guest and intruder who needs to be thrown away for the sake of the family. Meanwhile, wives are advised to be harsh with their husbands to “live in peace,” Al Arabiya reports.
Such a portrayal has provoked a wave of criticism across the country, with many calling on the authorities to punish media outlets for ruining the principles of Moroccan society.
