Morocco Style: CNT’s Mark Connolly Curates a Sale on Joss & Main
In my 20 years of travelling the world for Condé Nast Traveler it never ceases to amaze me how the urge to shop takes over when immersed in a foreign culture.
Many times I have shipped and schlepped home my latest haul of artifacts from far-flung places, not always successfully! (Note to self, must find silver lion head from Rahjasthani chair!!!)
One of Condé Nast Traveler’s favorite destinations to photograph is Morocco, and in particularMarrakech. I love shooting stories there, but to be honest it’s shopping nirvana. The smells, the sounds and the sights of the souk make me want to shop like I’m decorating a Riad not a one-bedroom Manhattan apartment. I love taking photos of tiles and textiles, bargaining for carpets, haggling in workshops, but getting the stuff home? Reality check.
This is why I have collaborated with the wonderfulJoss & Main site to curate a Moroccan Oasis collection of furniture and home decor, inspired byCondé Nast Traveler’s shoots in Marrakech. This sale, which starts tonight at 9pm—brings the best of the souks and bazaars to you—no haggling, no schlepping, no import tax, and more importantly an instant dose of Moroccan chic chez toi!
