Arab Spring: Mediterranean MPs Hail Relevance Of Reforms Undertaken In Morocco

Ankara – The Mediterranean parliamentarians, met on 29 and 30 April in Ankara in the meetings of the three standing committees of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), welcomed the relevance of the reforms undertaken in Morocco, which enabled the Kingdom to make profound change in several areas in the serenity and continuity.

The Arab Spring question and its impact on all Mediterranean countries dominated discussions at the meeting of the first PAM Standing Committee in charge of political and security cooperation, alongside the Palestinian issue.

The Moroccan parliamentary delegation, which participated in these meetings, focused on “Morocco’s exception” in this context, adding that the Kingdom, which began its reform process well before the Arab Spring, accelerated the pace of these changes on the road to strengthening democracy and development.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, the Moroccan delegation reiterated Morocco’s position for an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital, adding that the stability and prosperity in the Mediterranean can be achieved through the lasting settlement of this problem.
