Fencing/ Africa tournament: FAE denounces poor accommodation in Morocco
Shortly after the recent Africa fencing tournament, the Algerian fencing federation via its president
Shortly after the recent Africa fencing tournament, the Algerian fencing federation via its president, Raouf Bernaoui has deplored inadequate accommodation of their delegation in Morocco. Mr. Bernaoui expressed shock as they were lodged in the Bourgogne sports centre while other delegations were received in great hotels. FAE’s president pointed out that according to the regulations of their cooperation, it is the responsibility of the Moroccan fencing federation to take charge of the stay of the Algeria national team. On the other hand, reports say the Algerian ambassador in Morocco attended the price award ceremony on his own as he was not invited by the Moroccan federation. In reaction to those criticisms, the president of the Moroccan fencing federation, Youssef Fathi said the treatment was in accordance with the accommodation of the Moroccan delegation in Algeria during the Arab and the Africa tournaments. Mr. Fathi said they were lodged in a military center far away from Alger.
He also said the Algerian delegation in Morocco was bigger (33) than the required number (24) for a fencing competition. The battle of arguments and declarations between these federations continue on issues related to the election of the new boss of the African fencing governing body.
