Traverse has an Arabic lunch

A PLAY, A Pie And A Pint returns to the Traverse this week, with the first of six lunchtime plays written by artists living through turbulent political times in Lebanon, Morocco and Syria.

Until Saturday, you can see Could You Please Look Into The Camera (Damascus), by Mohammad Al Attar.

A young woman is recording the testimonies of some fellow Syrians who were detained during the current uprising of the country.

She finds that her position behind the camera is more ambiguous than she thought and as she struggles to capture the revolution she finds herself in increasing danger. Next week’s play – the second in the season – is Dear Glasgow, which has been written by seven established authors from cities around the Arab world. Each has written a letter as a response to current events in their countries. The essays will be read by some of Scotland’s own established writers.

A Play, A Pie And A Pint, Traverse Theatre, Monday-Saturday, 12.30pm, £12 (ticket includes a pie and a pint of beer/125ml glass of wine/glass of Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, lemonade or orange juice/tea/filter coffee),0131-228 1404
