A cyclist from Wimbledon is to ride from the top of Morocco back to London with an old school friend.
Mark Hooley, 32, will be joined by friend Mark Timms, 33, on the charity ride.
The route will take them the length of two of Europe’s biggest countries and is expected to take around 16 days.
The pair will set off on their journey tomorrow (April 22), which will see them cycle 1,600 miles through Spain and France.
Mr Hooley, who is originally from Nottingham but has lived in Wimbledon for more than five years, will be raising money for the Stroke Association.
Speaking about the charity’s work he said: “Just over two years ago my nan had a stroke. Sadly she was in the third of people who die in the weeks after having a stroke.
“During her last weeks, the Stroke Association provided us with lots of information and we saw the huge difference it makes to people who have had a stroke.”
Katie Hammond from the Stroke Association said: “We’d like to thank everyone who sponsors Mark in this extreme challenge.
“Funds raised through events like this cycle challenge can make a huge difference to people affected by stroke and to their families who have to cope with the devastating effects of stroke.” Mr Timms, who now lives in Clipstone is raising money for Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People in the East Midlands.

“It doesn’t get much harder than cycling from the top of Africa back to the UK in less than two and a half weeks.
“Seeing the great work Rainbows Hospice does will inspire me through the toughest days and ensure I finish the ride with a great sense of pride.”
