ANKARA, March 19 (KUNA) — Visiting Moroccan Foreign Minister Saad-Addine Al-Othmani said on Monday that his country rejected military intervention in Syria to end the bloodshed, noting that such step would complicate things further and called instead for political pressure.

Al-Othmani said, in a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu, that a military intervention would not solve the crisis in Syria, but will deteriorate the situation in region as a whole.

The visiting minister also noted that a political and diplomatic pressure on the Syrian regime, and to force it to stop its bloody campaign, asserting support by his country to efforts exerted by UN-Arab League Special Envoy Kofi Annan in Syria.

On another front, Al-Othmani highlighted other issues during his talk with the Turkish minister, most notably bilateral relations and commercial exchange between the two sides.

For his part, Davutoglu said that “Turkey could not remain indifferent to developments in Syria,” pointing to a “sharp increase in the number of Syrians fleeing to Turkey in the past few weeks,” saying the number has exceeded 16, 000.

The Moroccan minister arrived in Turkey last night for a three-day visit. (end) mm.mb KUNA 192238 Mar 12NNNN
