Rabat – The first Morocco-Asia Business Forum opened, Thursday in Rabat, under the theme ” Morocco-Asia: a partnership of a new kind”, with the attendance of Moroccan officials and representatives of the twelve Asian countries accredited to Morocco.
Organized by the Diplomatic Foundation, in collaboration with the embassies of the said Asian countries and the Moroccan Foreign Affairs ministry, the meeting is meant to review the development of trade ties with Asia.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, Economy minister Nizar Baraka said that Morocco and Asian countries should move towards a new economic partnership that mirrors the excellent political bonds between the two parties.
Trade exchanges and Foreign direct investments between Morocco and Asia, the Kingdom’s second economic partner, should be promoted and diversified, he added.
Baraka proposed setting up a legal framework that would help boosting relations of investment and partnership through the signature of agreements mainly on double non taxation.
Minister delegate to the Foreign minister Youssef Amrani affirmed that the forum, which coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Moroccan-Asian diplomatic relations, testifies to the solid and historical ties between the Kingdom and sister Asian nations.
The two-day event will tackle “the future of cooperation with Asia”, “Affica-Asia business opportunities”, “economic incentives: here and elsewhere”, and “strategic alliances: sharing experiences”.
