Morocco’s autonomy proposal for the Sahara is a “realistic” solution, underscored the French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé on Friday in Rabat.
The French Minister reiterated his country’s position saying “our position is clear” during a joint press conference with his Moroccan counterpart Saad Dine El Otmani.
“Morocco’s proposal is realistic,” he made it clear, adding that the status-quo is not in any party’s interest.
“The Sahara issue has never been an obstacle to improving relations with Algeria,” El Otmani said.
The Moroccan official added that this issue is treated by the UN Secretary General and the Security Council and that the negotiations process is still underway.
