A child sponsorship report from El Jadida in Morocco. Written in 2011.
Dear sponsor,
With the admission of five children from SOS Children’s Village of Imzouren and the admission of a girl in January with another in July, the number of children supported by theSOS Children’s Village of El Jadida reached 105 children this year with 54 girls and 51 boys.
The school year 2010/2011 was a success for children, 95% of them spends success to go to the next level. We also have two children from the first and the second year of the primary school who are the first of there class.
This year 100 children from the 105 are subscribed in school, 25 go to nursery while 75 others are enrolled in primary school. They are spread in over five schools in the city of El Jadida, and to improve the learning of some children, nine of them still follow up with a speech therapist and 15 are followed by one in the psychomotor room of the village also we two teacher for support courses in Arabic and French.
To ensure the development and successful integration of children in the month of September, we signed three partnership agreements with three sports associations (Karate, Aikido and Judo). These associations conduct courses of martial arts for a number of children village and they also include children from outside the majority of them come from needy families and we allow them to train for free.
This year, in collaboration with several partners, SOS Children’s Villages Moroccoorganized a music competition in the theatre Mohammed VI in Casablanca all the orchestras of all SOS Children’s Villages of Morocco participate. The first prize went to our village, children were able to show a great talent and they impressed the audience and the jury members (including trained musicians of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Morocco). It was an unforgettable experience for children as well as all employees of the village.
