Rabat – Minister delegate to the Foreign Minister Youssef Amrani said, Monday in Rabat, that strengthening ties with Asia is among the priorities of Morocco’s diplomacy.

In a statement to MAP, following a meeting with Vietnamese deputy foreign minister Nguyen Thanh Son, Amrani said that the visit by the Vietnamese official to Morocco takes place after that of Chinese deputy foreign minister to the Kingdom and of Morocco’s foreign minister Saad Dine El Otmani to Japan.

This is a signal that shows the interest Morocco takes in bolstering bonds with Asia and establishing dialogue with the Asian continent, Amrani noted.

Referring to regional issues, the Moroccan official informed his guest about the momentum spurred at the Maghreb level, as well as the latest developments of the Moroccan Sahara issue and the serious and credible efforts made by Morocco to settle this dispute.

“We noticed that Vietnam supports the political resolution and dialogue at the UN on our national cause, the Moroccan Sahara,” he added.

Nguyen Thanh Son reaffirmed his country’s support for the process brokered by the UN to reach a final political solution to the conflict over the Sahara issue.

The meeting falls within the framework of high-level visits between the two countries.
