IFAD Loans Morocco 6.38 Million Dollars To Promote Agriculture In Mountain Areas

Rome – The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) granted Morocco a loan of 6.38 million dollars as well as a donation of 140,000 dollars to fund new agricultural projects in mountainous areas in the province of AL-Haouz.

An agreement was signed in this regard, on Tuesday in Rome, between IFAD President and Morocco’s Ambassador to Rome Hassan Abouyoub.

The project, whose total cost amounts to 9.13 million dollars, is geared towards increasing the incomes of 33,000 smallholder farmers, livestock producers, poor rural women and young people involved in the production of olives, apples and lamb meat in the mountain areas of Al-Haouz Province.

This project brings the overall contribution of IFAD in Morocco to 194.6 million dollars.
