Strasbourg – The European parliament approved, on Tuesday, the conclusion of a protocol to the Euro-Mediterranean Association Agreement between the EU and Morocco, on the Kingdom’s participation in the Union’s programs.
The protocol, which marks a decisive phase in bilateral ties between the EU and Morocco, enables Morocco to participate in all the Union’s current and future programs available to it, writes the resolution, adopted by a show of hands at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
European deputies consider this initiate as an act of support and encouragement by the EU to efforts made by Morocco to promote reforms undertaken.
The advanced status already gives the Kingdom the possibility to take part in activities and programs by the Union’s agencies, they said.
Morocco’s advanced status broadens the scope of bilateral cooperation and includes fields not provided for in the Association Agreement signed in 1996 within the framework of the Barcelona process.
