Rabat – The return of the high-level delegation of Moroccan observers follows the Arab League’s decision to suspend its monitoring mission in Syria, the Foreign Ministry said on Sunday.
The Moroccan delegation discharged its duties exhibiting responsibility and professionalism, the Ministry said in a statement.
The Moroccan observers actively took part in monitoring activities along with other Arab monitors in the cities of Damascus, Hama, Latakia, Homs and Idlib, added the same source.
The Ministry congratulated the members of the Moroccan delegation for their success and their noble efforts to put an end to the bloodshed in Syria despite the perilous conditions.
Morocco, the statement said, remains committed to the Arab League’s decisions and efforts to find a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis.
The Moroccan delegation, led by Ambassador to Nouakchott Abderrahmane Benomar, arrived in Mohammed V airport in Casablanca early on Sunday.
Morocco decided last September 21 to send a high-level delegation composed of diplomats, jurists and military and security experts in response to the Arab League’s decision to send a monitoring mission to Syria.
