Sudan Vision
Kadugli – In the footsteps of their great ancestor Sheriff Karam al Dileimi, grandchildren Anat, Mohammad, Fatima and al Salima accompanied by researcher Morbihraba Ma al Enein started their journey to Sudan from Rabat and Dakhla in Morocco to complete their ancestor’s journey who visited the country earlier in 1810. On his pilgrimage journey towards Mecca, Sheriff Karam spent a considerable period of time in Kadugli where he contributed tangibly to spread of Islamic teaching in the area. The grandchildren traveled for thousands of miles from Rabat and Khartoum and from Khartoum to Kadugli to meet their cousins belonging to Abu al Bashar’s family. The grandchildren received warmly in their second country and their visit has contributed tangibly to renewable historic as well as blood ties linking Sudan with Morocco. Al Souq Estate in Kadugli was the stage of reception ceremony conducted in honor of Moroccan visitors and governor of South Darfur who participated in the celebration commended historical ties linking Sudan and Morocco. ‘We are required to emphasize blood relations tying us as well as reinforcing common social characteristics,’ said Haroun lauding efforts carried out by Dean of Abu al Bashar family Dr. Omar Abu al Bashar for the efforts promoting historic and blood ties between Sudan and Morocco.
Abu al Bashar explained that Karam was the author of ‘Journey from Chinguetti Land to Kadugli’ highlighting history of Abu al Bashar’s family based in south Morocco, north Mauritania and Sudan in addition to briefing his affinity with tribes Dar Hamid in Khairan Area west of Bara.
