Roschdy Zem Movie ‘Omar M’a Tuer’ Among The Films To Be Eligible For Oscar Nomination

Paris – Roschdy Zem movie “Omar m’a tuer” (Morocco) is among the nine films that have advanced to the next round of voting in the Foreign Language Film category for Hollywood’s 84th Academy Awards, its producer said.

Sixty-three films had been originally qualified in the category. The shortlist will be winnowed down to the five nominees by specially invited committees in New York and Los Angeles.

The nine films to be eligible for Oscar nomination are: “Bullhead” (Belgium), “Monsieur Lazhar” (Canada), “Superclásico” (Denmark), “Pina” (Germany), “A Separation” (Iran), “Footnote” (Israel), “Omar Killed Me” (Morocco), “In Darkness” (Poland), “Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale” (Taiwan).

Only five films will be nominated in the Foreign Language Film category. Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2011 will be presented February 26 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. The Oscar presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide.
