Rich in spices, golden sands, and the songs of snake charmers, Morocco is a sensational treat for any cruise-goer. Much of Morocco remains untouched by age, and you can still find citadels originating from the 11th century in wide use.

You’ve never quite had a retail experience like shopping in the souqs – open air marketplaces full of goods that cry-out to be taken home. Be careful with your haggling, as these vendors will clock you as a foreigner and try to charge you heavier prices, but once you know your way around the marketplace, you can pick up some prized pieces for a bargain.
With so much to see and buy, what will you get up to on a shore excursion to Agadir? Here are just some of the outings you could be enjoying this year.
Agadir Bike Tour
If you’d like to get sporty in Morocco, you can explore Agadir’s seaside by bike. Across a four mile route, you can admire the Atlantic Ocean and gorgeous sands. Take in the busy fishing market and the town centre, bustling with local life. The refreshing Jardin de Olhão and Vallée des Oiseaux parks are beautiful landmarks to have a wander around when everything gets too hot to handle. With a final visit to the souq, packed with more than 2,000 merchants, it’s time to reward yourself with a rest on the beach and then peddle back to the ship.
Souk and Fantasia
Your journey will begin at Agadir Kasbah; a medieval citadel which was ruined by an earthquake in 1731. Built by the Berbers in 1540, the walls and the entrance are still going strong. The views from this hilltop fortress are magnificent. And that’s just for starters. Next, you’ll head to Fantasia, a Moroccan performance of Berber Horsemen, tumblers, acrobats, musicians, and snake charmers. Of course, no trip would be complete without a trip to the souq for a handmade souvenir, so take to the markets for a little retail therapy to end the day.
Taroudant
Taroudant is a walled city, east of Agadir. This 11thcentury citadel nods to older times, with its impressive ramparts and five traditional gateways. After you’ve spent a day getting a feel for this fantastic city and wandering around the markets, you may be lucky enough to spot some of the cute, tree-climbing goats which live in this area.
Massa 4×4
For a real safari experience, jump on board a jeep and take the unconventional tour of Morocco. Rip around shifting sands and visit a local Berber village for a lunch of sweet honey, baked bread, meats, and crisp vegetables. From here you will continue your journey past the Massa Valley and the coastline, for some amazing scenery.
Marrakech
Marrakech is a must-see destination whilst you’re in Morocco. The minarets, markets, and architectural curiosities are enough to keep you entertained all day. Many of the buildings are medieval and beautiful in construction. You can see craftsmen at their work, making the very produce which they offer for sale. With the jumble of life here, it really is a completely different world.
