MADRID – Spain’s Interior Ministry says two police officers were
injured when they tried to prevent some 50 sub-Saharan migrants from
entering the Spanish enclave city of Melilla from Morocco.

Melilla is one of two Spanish enclaves on the northwest African coast
that are surrounded by Morocco on one side and the Mediterranean Sea
on the other.

Spokeswoman Irene Flores said Wednesday 25 migrants managed to get
into Melilla after climbing a six-meter high border fence but were
later caught and now face possible repatriation.

Migrants seeking to get to Europe camp out around Melilla and then
make late night assaults on the fence.
