The Eleventh Arab Energy Conference kicked off Monday in the Moroccan city of Marrakech under the theme “Energy and Arab Cooperation.”
The four-day conference, organized by the Moroccan Ministry of Energy, the Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC) and the League of Arab States, aims at establishing an Arab institutional framework to review oil and energy issues to develop a pan-Arab perspective.
It also aims to harmonize energy policies, assess energy resources in the Arab countries and coordinate efforts toward developing these resources.
Discussions will cover the transformations in global oil and gas markets and their implications for Arab oil exports, energy security, and investment requirements to develop the energy sector in Arab countries.
The issues of Arab and world energy resources, petroleum downstream industries, Arab cooperation in electric power field and energy demand management in Arab countries will also be on the agenda.
